General Information About Jusenkyo

Jusenkyo is a cursed training ground full of springs, each one bearing a curse that reminds the present of its own tragic story which occurred there hundereds of years ago. When someone falls in a spring the curse is branded to them, and whenever they are doused with cold water from that moment on, they will change into whatever drowned there as its tragic legend tells. Hot water will change you back to your normal self again, but only until the next time...

How were the springs cursed?

The springs of Jusenkyo started out as normal springs until tragic events began occuring at Jusenkyo thousands of years ago. Each spring in Jusenkyo has its own special curse that it bestows upon the person who falls into it. That person will from that moment forward change into whoever, or whatever drowned in that spring hundereds of years ago whenever doused with cold water. Why the curses came to be is not known, and may remain a mystery for all eternity.

So... every spring is cursed?

Well, not ALL of the springs are cursed. Due to geological changes and flooding, Jusenkyo is bound to create new springs that have not yet been cursed. These springs are highly suspectable to being cursed, carrying on the Jusenkyo legend. A person who falls into an uncursed spring, which does not happen often, the spring will instantly retain the curse of the person who fell in it. Thus when Akane fell into an uncursed spring at Jusenkyo, she created Akanenichuan, Spring of Drowned Akane. She did not drown, but the spring took her body and mind to pass onto the next person to fall into the spring. There are ways I developed to determine if you fall into an unmarked spring, generally rolling the highest reroll option twice, but the GM is the final custodian over the possibility of falling into an uncursed spring.

What happens if I fall into another spring?

This depends on what spring you fell into. For example if you have a curse and you are originally a man, but you fall into Nanichuan, you would be forever cured of your curse. Niannichuan works the same for female characters. If you fall into a different spring the curses mix, and you develop a combination of the curses.

How much water does it take, and how hot/cold does it need to be?

It does not take much water to change into the cursed form. 25-30mL, about half of a supply of the average water gun, will do the trick in most circumstances. Rain will work, but it generally takes a while, 30 secs to a minute depending on how hard it's raining, to change. As for the temperature, room temperature water is sufficient to change you to your cursed form, the dividing line is about 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit, or 27-32 degrees Celsius. It also does NOT matter what part of the body is hit with the water, but water on the limbs will take about 3 times more contact due to the distance from the body. The head, torso and upper legs / lower body take about 30 mL to cause a change.

How the springs work

This has basically been answered in the General Knowledge section, but there are some differences in the types of springs.

Spring Case 1: This is a spring which is very general, i.e. Spring of drowned Girl, spring of drwoned Panda, etc. A person falling into a "General" spring takes on the physical appearance of himself as that animal. For example: Shampoo fell into Maonichuan, she turns into a cat with white and purple colorings, as her hair is purple and facial complexion is white. She may look differant as a cat, to someone else who fell into Maonichuan looks in their cat form...

For those that fall into Nian/Nanichuan: If you have a GM who is extremely picky on details, or you are just one of those players who likes minute details, here is a little extra for your male/female forms. I have a character that fell into NianMaonichuan, spring of drowned cat-girl, and I used this when my GM decided he wanted bra sizes, dress sizes and the works for my female form.

(Assuming Male => Female reverse if for Female => Male)
Height Change: 3/4 of your height.
Weight Change: 3/5 of your weight.
Bra/Chest: Bod(STR or CON in some games) times 1.75 (same stat / 1.75 the opposite way)
Waist: Current waist size(if you have one) x 3/4
Dress Size (females only): Bra Size / 5.25

Spring Case 2: Falling into a more specific spring such as Spring of Drowned Priest. You will take the body and general mindset of the type of person that fell in there. In Spring of drowned Priest, for example, you would look different from your normal self, but you would also TRUELY believe things a normal priest would. Example from Ranma 1/2: The warrior from the Cult of the Muscle Sword, from Once Upon a Time in Jusenkyo, fell into the Spring of Drowned Priest. His body was much weaker looking, but he was smarter and more caring about the world around him, as he said, "Doesn't he know that buildings are made of wood, and wood is made from trees, Oh! we must thank the tree for its sacrifice..." You get the point. Oh, you DON'T get ANY NEW SKILLS unless you are taught. The GM may rule that you can have the skills of the person, but lose the skills your character had while in his normal form.

Spring Case 3: Falling into a Character Cursed Spring. These are the rare ones like Spring of Drowned Akane. You take the body, and FULL personality of the person who fell into the spring. You do not get their skills, or their memories, but you will have similar interests. It is unknown what the full effect would be, i.e. if they would fall in love with the same people in that form, etc., but that's why you all have GMs. (And all the GMs suddenly want to kill me...)

The Curses of Jusenkyo:

Awww, too bad you fall in cursed spring. To see what cursed form you now possess roll on the cursed table and be forever changed! Note: GMs may want to let characters pick their curses. This is perfectly alright, but it may be more enjoyable to have the character change into something he doesn't want, unless he can roleplay his character not enjoying his curse. Those characters who fell in long ago, may have gotten used to their curse and realize the strenghts that come with the weaknesses and embarrassment. Another suggestion is to have the character pick 6 and roll 1d6 to randomly determine the form.

*: These are characters from Ranma 1/2, they technically do NOT have springs cursed by them, but they are added for the possibility and enjoyment of players. Akanenichuan actually DOES exist, and it does effect the person who falls into it by cursing them with Akane's body and mind. Shampoonichuan does not bestow the extra cat curse Shampoo possesses nor do Ranmanichuan, Moosenichuan or Ryoganichuan.

**: The Spring of Drowned Twins duplicates anything that falls into it exactly. The GM has the option of who controls the copy.
